This bittersweet emotion carries two separate soul vectors at once: sadness that it may be years before we get to enjoy the people, the beaches & the magical reefs we have come to love; & a rush of gratitude that we were lucky enough to experience these sweet sensations once again -- in a world so troubled with traffic, turmoil, noise & nonsense.

Fiji has an amazing power, for a week or two, to sweep away all the stress & static that pass for living in an urban culture of the USA, or in metro Canada, Japan or Europe. And Fiji will replace that G8 stress with gee-whiz joys, almost a childlike re-energizing of the spirit. It's wonderful, compelling & once it gets in your blood, Fiji never lets you go!

Enough of the nuts & bolts of tropical travel. Fiji is about spirit, & here is why my wife Susan & I feel such a strong bond with the FIJI ISLANDS, & why we always feel intrigued about the FIJI ISLANDS & their charms.

The people of Fiji are out-of-this-world gracious, & hospitable to a degree seldom encountered anywhere in our frenetic MTV-flogged American culture. Fijian people smile & they light up your room. They are uncommonly kind & refreshing people to deal with. We have found that time passes quickly amongst people this spiritually gifted & serene.

One interesting tidbit....did you know, as part of their traditional culture, Fijians will not even accept tips from visitors on those outer islands, because their village social norms compel them to warm service as a way of life, not a means to cajole tips. They actually love to serve & have honed pure service to an art form. Without any ostentatious show of self-righteousness. Just quietly & effectively.

The service on our Fijian live-aboards & our island resorts is exceptional & never snooty or aloof as in French Polynesia.

Fiji really grabbed us by the heart more than 20 years ago & never let go. We can hardly wait to go back, soon, & perhaps even take our two boys when the timing is apropos. Fiji is a garden island nation that offers countless little fun discoveries every day to the discerning eye. We love being there. Our clients write us postcards often, sometimes the second day after they arrive, almost seeming to brim with enthusiasm about their new adventure.

* You must see these exceptional underwater vistas, the profusion of soft corals that sometimes can be among the largest gorgonia & soft colonies in the SoPac. Large pelagics from reef sharks & rays to schools of small psychedelic-hued fish that come across your path by the hundreds sometimes. The Somosomo Straits between Taveuni & Vanua Levu have some of the best coral reef drift diving in the world. The shallow channels of Beqa Lagoon, Taveuni, Kadavu & Matangi island area are world-class reef environments, just brimming with colors, & up to 300 species of fish, even more coral varieties.

For many years we still have held Fiji almost on a pedestal in this office -- because of this little island nation's exceptional serenity, hospitality & geographic beauty. Fiji is one of the few locales that still gets our pulse pounding whenever we think of it. We actually miss Fiji often, the way some folks miss their alma mater, or an old childhood neighborhood.

The native islanders of Fiji, particularly the villagers on Vatulele & Matangi, Kadavu & Lalati islands, who always serve our guests with TLC, are of such a caliber of gentle graciousness, it is tough to actually articulate the depth of emotional response most of our guests feel when they first arrive. All Fiji vacation package prices are subject to possible change in this steadily evolving travel market. Lodging, side tour & diving prices are traditionally stable, while air prices can fluctuate daily. Until air tickets are issued, all airlines reserve the right to change airfares without notice -- an industry standard per FAA rules. We at U.S. Dive Travel will price-protect you to the utmost of our professional ability; & that has been our pledge for one decade now. Our tropical vacation experts normally secure excellent wholesale discount air tickets for our clients who book early enough to secure limited seats in the best price categories. Remember please, the federal government has deregulated all U.S.-based airlines, so only they control their pricing -- not any travel professionals. Early is good when seeking the best air ticket rates.

Unless specifically noted, these Fiji scuba diving packages, Fiji snorkeling packages & Fiji honeymoon packages are priced the land-based portion of the dive resort, in most cases reflecting double-occupancy rooms. At many dive resorts, there will be no triple-occupancy rooms offered. Some exceptions will be noted. International air tickets & commuter "island-hopper" seats are always extra above these land costs. Nominal service fees are also extra for air tickets & the vessel + side tour components. The baseline tariffs for all clients start at USD $55 per person for the land portion + $35 pp for the air tickets. Late-booking clients may receive slightly higher tariffs on the lodging + diving at many of our dive resorts.

The preferred payment mode for all of our dive resorts, side tours & air ticket specials is by cashier's check or wire transfer in U. S. dollars. All clients living outside the USA or Canada will need to pay for their dive vacations via direct wire transfer only. No personal checks will be accepted for the land portion of any reservation. Thank you for your gracious understanding. Our service level is the highest & our prices the lowest in this industry, & thus we need to preserve a reasonable margin. For published-fare air ticket bookings, USDT always accepts Visa & Mastercard.
